ABOUT US

keweenaw satelliteWelcome to Adventure Learning Ecotours, LLC! Our home base is the remote and beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan´s Upper Peninsula. I formed this company out of a passion for the natural world and a vision of teaching others about it. For me, this is a way to bring many of my life´s interests together and to continue learning myself while teaching others. As they say, the student is often the best teacher.

We promote awareness and understanding of the natural world by offering educational guided tours to select national parks and other wild lands. We specifically choose places we have worked in or hold close to our hearts so that we can provide an intimate experience when we visit these areas for ecotours. We also offer short learning workshops (folk school and outdoor learning programs) and guided outings in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Topics include birding, wolf recovery, wilderness survival, fly casting, animal tracking & sign, skijoring & mushing, wilderness first aid, and many others. When our schedule allows, we can provide custom guide services to get you off the beaten path on your visit to the Keweenaw. Whether you are interested in hiking, birding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, waterfall visits, photography or discovering lesser known wild beaches, we can help make your vacation here memorable.

We pride ourselves on the experience, expertise, and friendliness of our instructors. They will make your learning experience a safe, memorable event. We want you to know these things about us as you consider a learning experience with us:

  • We encourage respect for the natural world and for each other by minimizing impact, building environmental and cultural awareness, and promoting the preservation of ecosystems. In all of our offerings we treat the landscape, animals, and other people we encounter with respect. In short, we believe in treading lightly while educating others about the natural world.
  • We actively support the host communities where our ecotours take place and draw on local knowledge and talent to enrich your learning experience. In the Keweenaw-based workshops, we often utilize local instructors from our community to teach in their area of expertise.
  • When possible, we donate a portion of our proceeds to causes that we enthusiastically support (wildlife research, sustainability, land conservation efforts).
  • We try to offer small classes to maximize your learning experience and promote bonding among the participants.
  • We love music and dogs!

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope to share an adventure with you soon! Feel free to contact us with any questions or for more information about a particular offering.
