WORKSHOPS > WILDERNESS
FIRST AID
The
WFA certification is valuable if you are looking for jobs in the
outdoors, already work in the outdoors, or recreate in wild places.
This certification lasts for a 2-year period after the 16-hour
workshop. Completion of the WFA course will provide you with the
knowledge and skills to respond to a backcountry emergency and
is valuable in its own right for any medical emergency. Topics
covered include patient assessment, shock, wilderness wounds, fractures
and dislocations, hypothermia, heat illness, and bites and stings.
The 16-hour WFA course may be used to recertify Wilderness First
Responder for a small additional fee. No prior certification is
required and the course is open to all. The course will happen
rain or shine and much of it will be outside. Bring water, a lunch,
a notebook and pen, and raingear (just in case so you won´t
need it!).
There are still openings as of May 4 so register ASAP if you're interested. We need to send names to SOLO for certification in advance. Go to the bottom of the Register/Pay page for a pdf WFA registration form and mail it in with your payment.
