WORKSHOPS > Knot Tying for the Outdoors
How many times have you needed the perfect knot for an outdoor situation, but had to rely on the ole square knot? This workshop will teach you useful knots for outdoor applications including camping, climbing, boating, fishing, and hanging food away from the reach of bears! From the basics to the specifics, regardless of your skill level, come
learn how to tie the most essential knots for every situation. When you and
your rope come to a crossroads, will you make the right choice? After this workshop you will have a much better shot at it!
Instructor, Tom Maynard, is a second year student at MTU. He can also be found working
for the university's Outdoor Adventure Program as a trip guide. As an
Eagle Scout and former camp staff member, Tom now leads and educates
college students in the outdoors. Signature knot: The clove hitch - The
most universal and versatile of hitches, and the base for nearly every
lashing.
